Believe You Can

Faith That Moves You Forward

Scripture: Mark 9:23 (NKJV)

«“If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”»

There are moments in life when the greatest obstacle standing between where we are and where God is calling us may not be our resources, education, connections, or circumstances. Sometimes the battle is simply believing that moving forward is possible.

In Mark 9, a father came to Jesus facing a situation that seemed beyond his ability to change. Jesus redirected his attention toward faith: “If you can believe…” This does not mean that believing guarantees we will receive everything we want exactly when or how we want it. Biblical faith is deeper than positive thinking. It means trusting God enough to move forward even when we cannot see the entire path.

KNOWLEDGE: What Does It Mean to Believe?

Belief begins with what we accept as true, but biblical belief should also influence how we live.

You may believe God has given you a purpose, but eventually that belief must affect your decisions. You may believe you can become a stronger leader, but growth requires discipline. You may believe your family, business, ministry, career, or community can improve, but belief must eventually produce action.

Faith gives us the confidence to begin. Discipline gives us the consistency to continue. Wisdom helps us determine our next move.

The question isn't simply, “Do I believe?” A stronger leadership question is:

“What am I doing differently because I believe?”

UNDERSTANDING: Belief Does Not Eliminate Difficulty

“Believe you can” should never be confused with pretending challenges do not exist. Faith acknowledges the obstacle while refusing to allow the obstacle to have the final word.

Think about a chessboard. You may find yourself in a difficult position. Some opportunities may have disappeared. Your original strategy may no longer work. Yet the game isn't necessarily over.

A strategic player studies the board and asks, “What is my best move from where I am right now?”

Life requires the same mindset.

You cannot always control what happens around you, but you can evaluate your position, seek God's wisdom, adjust your strategy, and make your next move with faith.

APPLICATION: Put Your Belief Into Action

This week, identify one area of your life where doubt has delayed action. It could involve your spiritual life, family, leadership, education, career, finances, business, health, relationships, or community.

Then take these five steps:

1. Pray about it. Ask God for wisdom, direction, and courage.

2. Write down the vision. Clearly define what you believe is possible.

3. Identify the obstacle. Be truthful about what is standing in the way.

4. Determine your next move. Don't worry about completing the entire journey today. Identify one meaningful action.

5. Take the step. Faith becomes visible when belief produces movement.

Small actions taken consistently can create significant change.

A KINGDOM LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE

Men and women of faith are called to lead with more than confidence in themselves. Kingdom leadership begins with confidence in God.

There will be seasons when you don't have every answer. There will be moves that require courage. There will be circumstances that challenge what you believe.

In those moments, remember Mark 9:23.

Believe that God can use you.

Believe that growth is possible.

Believe that your current position does not have to be your final position.

Believe—and then make your next move.

Reflection Questions

- Where has doubt been limiting my progress?

- What has God already placed in my hands that I am not fully using?

- Is my daily behavior consistent with what I say I believe?

- What fear do I need to replace with faith and preparation?

- What is one strategic move I can make this week?

This Week's Action Step

Choose one thing you have been postponing because of fear, uncertainty, or self-doubt. Pray about it, develop a simple plan, and take one measurable step forward within the next seven days.
